I just saw the movie "Sicko". I will not review it here, don't get me going, but I hope you will see it too. And remember to vote whenever you can.

This spring and summer I have read two fantastic books about growing your own food! I was so inspired and is now tending proudly to our freak pumpkin patch, or ripening tomatoes, growing basil and blooming Bhutanese hot pepper plants.

Joan Gussow: This Organic Life. Confessions of a suburban homesteader. (2001, Chelsea Green Publishing)
A friend of mine turned me on to The Organic Consumers Association (OCA), an online and grassroots non-profit public interest organization campaigning for health, justice, and sustainability. The OCA deals with crucial issues of food safety, industrial agriculture, genetic engineering, children's health, corporate accountability, Fair Trade, environmental sustainability and other key topics. The OCA has an online newsletter called Organic Bytes (read more and subscribe here).
